A fun St. Martin attraction is the Butterfly Farm, a tropical plant refuge where they have imported butterflies from all over the world.
Our tour guide, Peter, was an amazing storyteller. From chrysalis to adult, we saw butterflies in each stage. And they flew in abundance.
I can't believe that a caterpillar (larva) actually completely dissolves into a liquid before making itself back up into a butterfly. Talk about rebirth and transformation! This chrysalis is showing the making of the head and wings through the shell.
This means Kevin was lucky for 24 hours (but unfortunately, we didn't have the desire to go to the casinos on the Dutch side).
I loved these little ones with a wide wingspan.
Butterflies are hard to capture on camera, and even moreso on video.
